Home Is Where The Heart (Hometown Bakeshop) Is.

What is your definition of home? Mine is a place you walk into, where you may know everyone or nobody, but know matter what you get that welcoming feeling. It’s a place where you feel nobody is judging and everyone is loving. Hometown Bakeshop in Centerport, has that feeling.

At this point I have been to Hometown Bakeshop many times. The first time I walked in completely oblivious to what was sold and how the establishment was run. I was greeted with HUGE smiles and a calming vibe. While staring at the cases I was so overwhelmed by all of the amazing creations.

Since it was my first time I decided on a basic Egg Sandwich, this Egg Sandwich turned out to be the complete opposite of basic. The staff hands you a check list where you get to choose from a bunch of options, unlike the typical bagel store or deli. I finally decided on Bacon, 2 Eggs, Fresh Mozzarella Cheese & Avocado on a Cheddar Biscuit. Go big or go home, you know?

I seated myself at one of the cozy booth seats by the window so when my sandwich came out I could do my crazy food blogger thing (basically take a million pictures). I saw it coming out of the kitchen and I’m pretty sure I had to pick my jaw up off the floor. This thing was massive. The Cheddar Biscuit was so tasty and the Fresh Mozzarella really added that extra punch that every hangover Egg Sandwich needs.

The real amazing thing happened on my second visit. The BIRTHDAY CAKE SCONE. All I can say is oh my god. If you haven’t had one PLEASE go get one. This is a regular vanilla scone with rainbow sprinkles baked in and topped with the most amazing cream cheese frosting. Perfect for any birthday .. or can just use whatever excuse you want to go pick one up. When I took the first bite I felt myself light up with complete joy because it had that little crunch on the outside and a moist, soft texture on the inside. Next up was a special and I’d say you have to RUN there when they have it. The Boston Cream Donut. I know I know, you could just go to Dunkin Donuts, but no you need this one. It’s so light, fluffy and has just the right cream to donut ratio.

The items I have had are only a few of the amazing things they have on the menu. They also have many savory pies (Eggplant Burrata is one that I am DYING to try), Egg/Bagel Bombs, Muffins, Pies, Cookie/Brownie/Cheesecake Bars, the list could keep going for days.   Now that you have heard all of this I think it’s time to hop in your car and take a drive to the little town of Centerport. Trust me you will not regret it.
